Dennis Taylor was born in Coalisland, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland on 19 January 1949.

The retired snooker player partnered Izabela Hannah in the third series of Strictly Come Dancing. They were eliminated in the fifth week after a close shave the week before when Dennis took umbrage with some of the judges' criticisms.

Dennis Taylor turned snooker professional in 1972 and in the seventies he played consistently without actually winning a major tournament.

Dennis Taylor's famous glasses, designed by Jack Karnehm, saw their first outing in 1983.

Taylor swept to widespread fame with his extraordinary contest against Steve Davis coming from 8-0 behind to level the 1985 Snooker World Championship at 17-17 and then potting the final black.

Dennis Taylor's victory was voted the 18th most memorable sporting moment by Radio 5 listeners. At the time it achieved a record television audience for a broadcast after midnight - 18.5 million.

In 2000, Dennis Taylor retired from professional snooker to commentate.

Dennis Taylor's hobbies include golf, music and motor racing.
