Adam Peaty's Biography
Adam Peaty was born in Uttoxeter on 28 December 1994.
The swimmer won gold in the 2016 Olympics at Rio and in 2021 in the Tokyo Olympics, where he became the first British swimmer to successfully defend an Olympic title, once more taking the gold in the 100 metres breaststroke. Peaty also won a gold medal in the mixed 4 × 100 metre medley relay.
Adam Peaty has also held numerous swimming world records.
Adam Peaty summed up his approach in GiveMeSport: "So never, ever lose that person inside of you and go, right, 'I just wanna be better than yesterday' - that’s it, keep it simple.”
He is an MBE.
In 2021, he became one of the celebrities on Strictly Come Dancing, where he was paired with Katya Jones.
The following year, he broke his foot and finished fourth at the Commonwealth Games - the first time he had been beaten in eight years.
In 2024, Adam won joint silver at the Paris Olympics, in the in the men’s 100m breaststroke, just two hundredths of a second behind the winner.
