David Alan Grier's Biography
David Alan Grier was born on 30 June 1955 in Detroit, Michigan.
After David Alan Grier graduated from Yale School of Drama, he had a major breakthrough on Broadway playing Jackie Robinson in The First. The role earned him a Tony nomination.
More stage work followed as well as film credits including I'm Gonna Git You Sucka, and Streamers for which he and his co-stars won the best actor award at the Venice Film Festival.
David Alan Grier was then cast in the comedy sketch show, In Living Color. More TV credits followed including Damon, his own show DAG, and Life With Bonnie.
More recently, David Alan Grier was executive producing, writing and hosting on The Chocolate News, a mock newscast featuring African-American anchors.
David Alan Grier's wife Christine Y. Kim is associate curator of the Studio Museum in Harlem.
In Dancing with the Stars season 8, David Alan Grier partnered Kym Johnson.
They came 9th.
