Greg Rusedski was born in Montreal in Canada on 6 September 1973.

His mother was born in Yorkshire and he took British citizenship in 1995 and was eligible to play tennis for Great Britain.

At one point, Greg Rusedski rose to number 4 in the world rankings and was BBC Sports Personality of the Year.

In 1997 Rusedski reached the final of the US Open. He was the first British tennis player to appear in a Grand Slam final since Fred Perry in 1936.

Rusedski suffered ankle and other injuries that interrupted his tennis career as well as, in 2004, failing a drug test for excessive nandrolone levels, for which he was later cleared of any wrongdoing.

In 2007, Greg Rusedski announced his retirement from professional tennis.

In 1991, Greg Rusedski met Lucy Connor, who was an acting student and a ball girl at a tournament he was playing in. They married in September 1999.

Greg Rusedski partnered Kristina Lenko in Dancing on Ice in 2008.

Greg and Kristina did remarkably well, with the public keeping them out of the skate-off until week 8 when they lost out to Zaraah Abrahams and Fred Palascak and so they narrowly missed out on being in the last four.

After finishing his playing career Rusedski was a regular pundit on televised tennis events.
