David Gest's Biography
Early Life and Marriage
David Gest was born on 11 May 1953 in Los Angeles.
On 16 March 2002, David Gest married Liza Minnelli in New York City.
The maid-of-honour was Elizabeth Taylor and the best man was Michael Jackson.
David Gest and Liza Minnelli split up in July 2003 and filed for divorce shortly afterwards.
They had first met over fifteen years previously at the home of Frank Sinatra, but only cemented their relationship when David Gest produced Michael Jackson's comeback concert, in which Minnelli appeared.
David Gest has always been in the entertainment industry. At 17, he was a record company publicist and soon went on to establish his own public relations and management company. He produced several large scale events and concerts.
When he started his own PR business, his first client was soul singer Al Green.
In 2004, David Gest moved to Memphis, from where he produced David Gest's All-Star Holiday Extravaganza.
I'm A Celebrity
Nobody appeared surprised when David Gest was voted by the public to do the first Bush Tucker Trial in I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here. However, David Gest grew in popularity through the show and in the end, he came fourth in the 2006 series of I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.
He remained friends with Jason Donovan and Matt Willis.
In April 2007, David Gest, as well as appearing on This is David Gest, became a judge on a Simon Cowell project, Grease Is The Word.
In March 2007, The Sun reported that David Gest had been seeing Malandra Burrows.
In November 2007, the BBC reported that David Gest was to tour the UK with a musical stage show entitled David Gest Is Nuts - My Life as a Musical.
December 2007 proved a difficult month for David Gest. In it, he sold his collection of music memorabilia at an auction and on 19 December he was admitted to hospital with chest pains and respiratory problems.
Big Brother
In 2016, David Gest became one of the housemates on Celebrity Big Brother.
However, after feeling ill, David Gest left the Big Brother house of his own volition after 13 days.
David Gest's Death
David Gest died on 12 April 2016.
He was found dead at the Four Seasons hotel in Canary Wharf in London.
