Matt Di Angelo's Biography
Matt Di Angelo is most famous for playing Deano Wicks in EastEnders and made his first appearance on 2 January 2006.
Di Angelo was born in 1987 in London.
Like fellow Strictly Come Dancing contestant Letitia Dean, he went to the Sylvia Young Theatre School.
Although he had previously had other TV credits including I Dream and Harbour Lights, Di Angelo was working in a shoe shop when he heard that he had got the role in EastEnders.
Matt di Angelo told Digital Spy about being nominated for sexiest male in the British Soap Awards:
"It's not really something I look at as something I should be aiming for. I'm more of an actor. I'd like to be appreciated for that. It's very flattering to be nominated for sexiest male, but it's not the be all and the end all."
Matt Di Angelo partnered Flavia Cacace in Strictly Come Dancing in 2007.
They had real ups and downs but in the end Matt and Flavia made it into the Strictly Come Dancing final up against Alesha Dixon and Matthew Cutler.
Although Matt Di Angelo finished runner-up in Strictly Come Dancing, he can look back with pride on his performance, particularly as the winner, Alesha, is widely regarded as the best celebrity to have been on the show over the years.
In December 2007, The People reported that Matt and Flavia were an item:
"Heartbroken Strictly Come Dancing star Vincent Simone last night blasted Matt di Angelo for stealing the only woman [Flavia Cacace] he ever loved."
However in June 2008 there were press reports that Matt and Flavia had split up and that Matt Di Angelo had been seen around with Michelle Heaton, however, in July 2009, the Liverpool Daily Post confirmed that Matt and Flavia were still a couple.
It was surprising to find Matt Di Angelo on Strictly Come Dancing as in February 2007, he had told The Mirror:
"I'm an actor. I'd hate to be a celeb. That's a person who's been on a reality show. It's rubbish."
In 2009, Matt Di Angelo played Sean Kennedy in BBC1's Hustle.
In 2016, he was cast as Fletch in the BBC1 drama series Ordinary Lies.
