Who is Lemar?

Lemar is a soul singer, who was born on 4 April 1978 in London.

His mother was a nurse, and his father, who had been an accountant in Nigeria, was a plumber who also did security work.

Before he broke through as a musician, Lemar worked at Sainsbury's.

His first concert was when he performed free supporting Usher Raymond in the Temple in Tottenham.

Lemar first came to widespread public attention when he came third in Fame Academy in 2003.

He went on to have great success with tracks such as Dance (with U), 50/50 and If There's Any Justice and became a winner at the Brit and MOBO awards.

In 2017, it was announced that he was replacing the injured Monty Panesar as a celebrity on Dancing on Ice.

Lemar was paired with Melody Le Moal.
