Rav Wilding is famous for his role co-presenting Crimewatch, which he joined in 2004, and subsequently hosting aBBC Morning Live.

He worked for the Metropolitan Police for eight years before leaving in February 2008. He was Detective Constable for the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in south London.

Before that he spent four years in the army, where his career was cut short after four years when he broke his leg during a training run.

Rav Wilding was born in Canterbury in Kent. His Mauritian father and English mother were both nurses.

Apart from Crimewatch, Rav Wilding's TV roles include being a regular reporter on crime issues for The One Show, as well as presenting Missing Live, and Helicopter Heroes.

According to The Mirror, Rav Wilding's girlfriend at the time Virgin air stewardess Lauren Alcorn used to date Rio Ferdinand.

In 2009 Rav Wilding partnered Aliona Vilani in Strictly Come Dancing.

Rav and Aliona survived a dance-off in the first week of Strictly Come Dancing that saw Matthew Cutler and Martina Hingis eliminated.

However, Rav and Aliona were eliminated in the third week.

In 2011, Rav Wilding broke up with Chantelle Houghton.

On 8 May 2020, Rav Wilding tweeted: "This is a time that calls for ALL hands on deck. That’s why 20 years after first joining up, I’m dusting off the cuffs and returning as a police officer with the @metpoliceuk [Metropolitan Police]."

In September 2020, it was revealed that Rav Wilding would be a regular face on a new daily, topical live series BBC One’s Morning Live.
