Tom DeLay's Biography
Tom DeLay was born in Laredo, Webb County, Texas on April 8, 1947.
He was educated at Calallan High School; Corpus Christi, Texas; Baylor University, Texas; and University of Houston, Texas.
From 1979 to 1984, Tom DeLay was a member of the Texas state house of representatives.
DeLay was elected to Congress in 1984, and when Republicans took control of the House, he was elected Majority Whip, and then Majority Leader.
Sourcewatch reported that DeLay resigned from the leadership in 2005 following his indictment on conspiracy charges.
He is the founder of the DeLay Foundation for Kids.
At the time of Dancing with the Stars, Tom DeLay was president of First Principles LLC, a strategic political consulting firm.
In Dancing with the Stars series 9 in 2009, Tom DeLay danced with Cheryl Burke, however he was forced to withdraw from the series after a few weeks because of a stress fracture in each of his feet.
