Shannen Doherty's Biography

Shannen Doherty was born on 12 April 1971 in Memphis, Tennessee.

She started acting as a child, appearing in the NBC series Father Murphy and a year later, at just 11 years old, starring as Jenny Wilder in Little House: A New Beginning.

Shannen Doherty went on to amass several acting credits on TV and in the movies including in 1989, starring in Heathers, but it was the following year in 1990, that she made her major breakthrough when she was cast as teen twin Brenda Walsh on the television series Beverly Hills, 90210.

She gained another major role in 1998 when she was cast, alongside Alyssa Milano and Holly Marie Combs, as Prue Halliwell in Charmed.

She also produced and fronted a reality TV series Breaking Up With Shannen Doherty broadcast in 2006.

In 2008 Shannen Doherty reprised her role as Brenda Walsh in the new version of the show Beverly Hills, 90210, called just 90210.

She was not the first actor from Beverly Hills, 90210 to appear on Dancing with the Stars. She followed in the footsteps of Ian Ziering and Jennie Garth.

Shannen Doherty had another connection with Dancing with the Stars in that her ex-husband Ashley Hamilton had appeared on series 9.

Another ex-husband of Shannen Doherty was Rick Salomon, of whom a home video of his sexual exploits with Paris Hilton appeared online.

In 2010 Shannen Doherty was coupled with Mark Ballas in Dancing with the Stars, but they were the first couple to be eliminated.

In 2017, Shannen Doherty said she felt "great" and "lucky" after having treatment for breast cancer.

In 2019, she announced she was joining the cast of Berverly Hills 20210 Reboot.

In 2020, she revealed that her cancer had returned.

Shannen died in July 2024, aged 53.
