Who is Melvin Odoom?

Melvin Odoom was born on 30 July 1980.

Odoom graduated in 2001 in Media Performance and Radio from what was then the University of Luton and is now University of Bedfordshire. In 2016, the University awarded him an Honorary Doctorate of Arts.

Early on, he worked for BBC Radio 1Xtra as a broadcast assistant and appeared on Dick and Dom in da Bungalow.

Melvin Odoom went on to amass various credits on TV and radio.

His TV credits include co-presenting The Xtra Factor on ITV2 with Rochelle Humes, being one of the team leaders on BBC Three’s Sweat The Small Stuff, and hosting ITV's Bang On The Money.

In terms of radio, Melvin Odoom is best known for DJing at Kiss FM on the breakfast show with Rickie Haywood-Williams and Charlie Hedges, for which they won Gold at The Sony Radio Awards in 2012.

In August 2016, Melvin Odoom was revealed to be one of the celebrities on Strictly Come Dancing. In his past he had taught dance to young children.

In Strictly, Melvin Odoom was paired with Janette Manrara.

They were the first couple to be voted off.

In 2017, ITV commissioned a new entertainment show, Japandemonium, voiced by Melvin Odoom.

in the same year, he became the presenter of the Channel 4 series Lego Masters.

In November 2018, it was revealed that Melvin Odoom, Rickie Haywood-Williams and Charlie Hedges would host the late evening show on Radio 1.
