Who is Tony Jacklin?

Tony Jacklin was born on July 7, 1944 in Scunthorpe, England.

Before becoming a professional golfer, Tony Jacklin was an apprentice steelmaker.

However, having shown a great talent for golf from a young age, he turned pro and went on to have great success in the 1960s and 1970s.

He won several tournaments including the British Open in 1969 and The US Open in 1970 (with a 7 shot victory).

Tony Jacklin was the non-playing Ryder Cup captain for Europe in 1983, 1985, 1987, 1989.

Europe's victory in 1985 was their first in 28 years.

In 2013, Tony Jacklin became one of the celebrities on Strictly Come Dancing.

He was the first golfer to appear on Strictly.

Tony Jacklin was paired with Aliona Vilani.

Tony and Aliona were the first pair to be voted off.
