Kara Tointon's Biography
Kara Tointon started acting as a child and appeared in EastEnders in 1994 as an extra.
When she was 15, she dated James Bourne, who would go on to be in the band Busted. They had met in a local stage production of The Sound Of Music.
In 2000 she was cast in the Channel 4 drama Teachers. Tointon's other credits included Dinotopia and Mile High, and three productions directed by Ray Kilby: Dream Team (as Gina Moliano), More Than Love, and Never Play With The Dead.
Kara Tointon became most famous for playing Dawn Swann in EastEnders. A role which earned her the sexiest actress award at the 2008 British Soap Awards.
She used to go out with fellow EastEnders actors James Alexandrou and Joe Swash, who played her brother Mickey Miller on screen.
Kara Tointon first appeared on EastEnders on 26 September 2005, but left the soap in 2009.
Kara's sister Hannah is also an actress.
In 2008, Kara Tointon won the Sport Relief version of Strictly Come Dancing, partnering Mark Ramprakash.
In 2010 she was chosen to be in Strictly Come Dancing itself, partnering Artem Chigvintsev.
Kara and Artem won Strictly Come Dancing.
Shortly after winning the final of Strictly Come Dancing, Kara Tointon confirmed that she and Artem Chigvintsev were going out together.
However they broke up in 2014 and she started going out with Matt Johnson.
In 2011, Kara Tointon was cast as Eliza Dolittle in Pygmalion, which was opening at the Garrick Theatre in London.
In 2015, she was cast as Maria in The Sound of Music Live.
In January 2017, Kara Tointon was cast as Betsey Day in ITV's The Halcyon.
In January 2021, she gave birth to a baby boy. It was her second boy. She and her fiance Marius Jensen had a boy Frey in 2018.
