Angela Scanlon's Biography

Early Life

Angela Scanlon was born on 29 December 1983 and was brought up in Meath in Ireland.

She worked as a dancer and a stylist before becoming a television presenter.

Television and Radio Career

Scanlon was a reporter on RTE's The Movie Show and hosted the dating show, The Love Clinic.

Angela Scanlon presented a one-off documentary Oi Ginger! about growing up ginger-haired in Ireland. It led to her hosting the 4 part series, Angela Scanlon: Full Frontal on RTE 2

Her other credits include taking over from Aoibhinn Ni Shuilleabhain. co-presenting Getaways with Joe Lindsay; hosting the EE British Academy Film Awards coverage on BBC Three; and being the online presenter of The Voice UK's backstage coverage.

She also co-hosted BBC Three's T in The Park coverage with Clara Amfo.

On 3 February 2016, the BBC announced that Angela Scanlon would co-host BBC2's Robot Wars with Dara O'Briain.

Angela Scanlon also hosted BBC Two’s Your Home Made Perfect.

She has presented on BBC One’s The One Show and BBC Radio 2.

In July 2020, it was announced that she would host a 10 part series on BBC Two, The Noughties.

In 2022, she wrote Joyrider, part guide and part memoir.

In 2023, she was paired with Carlos Gu on Strictly Come Dancing. They came sixth.

Marriage

In 2014, she married her partner Roy in Wicklow.

Her wedding dress was designed by Irish designer, Sorcha O'Raghallaigh.
