Les Dennis's Biography
He was a comedian performing mainly at working mens' clubs, before getting his big breakthrough when he won the popular talent show New Faces.
He became a regular on Russ Abbot's various television shows before having his own show with Dustin Gee which ended when the latter passed away.
Les Dennis then hosted Family Fortunes for fifteen years.
He appeared on Celebrity Big Brother and came second.
Subsequently he acted in Ricky Gervais's series Extras and Life’s Too Short.
In 2014, he was cast as Michael Rogers / Michael Rodwell in Coronation Street. His character was killed off towards the end of 2016.
His other TV roles included playing Danny Sheridan in Death in Paradise.
His acting roles also included playing in HMS Pinafore with the ENO and in The Provoked Wife with the Royal Shakespeare Company, as well as in musicals such as Chicago, Me and my Girl, Hairspray, and 42nd Street.
In 2023, he was partnered with Nancy Xu on Strictly Come Dancing. They were the first pair to be voted off.
In 2024, he was cast as Malvolio in Twelfth Night at the Shakespeare North Playhouse.
