Tim Wonnacott was born on May 6, 1953 in Barnstaple, Devon.

He qualified as a chartered auctioneer and chartered surveyor and attended a post-graduate course at the V & A, before joining Sotheby’s in 1978.

Tim Wonnacott rose up the ranks at the famous auction house becoming Chairman of Sotheby’s saleroom at Olympia in London.

He told the BBC about his decision to step down as chairman of Sotheby's after 25 years to take up television presenting full-time:

"My wife said it was a midlife crisis but I felt I needed a new challenge."

Tim Wonnacott's numerous TV appearances include Antiques Roadshow, Bargain Hunt, The Great Antiques Hunt, and the Antique Inspectors.

In 2014, he was paired with Natalie Lowe on Strictly Come Dancing.

They were the third couple to be voted off.

In November 2015, Tim Wonnacott left Bargain Hunt after 12 years.
